About Me

Who Am I?

Hello, and thank you for stopping by! My name is Swastik Verma, though I now go by Neil. This is my portfolio website, where I showcase my projects, both former and ongoing.

My first love for engineering came from watching episodes of Air Crash Investigation on National Geographic, better known as Mayday, in Canada. I am an aspiring forensic engineer, with a passion for focusing on aircraft accident investigations. With a commitment to Lifelong Learning, I am involved in actively learning more about the investigative and engineering techniques employed by the NTSB, the TSB, and other civil aviation accident investigation organizations around the world.

Since the fall of 2024, I have been pursuing a 2-year master’s degree with the Deparment of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto, with a technical emphasis on Forensic Engineering and Sustainable Engineering. Pursuant to this, my coursework includes Failure Analysis, Forensic Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Aircraft Accident Investigation. By pursuing this and soon-to-come coursework, I am able to fine tune skills that would be expected in an aviation specialist.

My background

I am a spring 2024 graduate of Arizona State University (ABET-accredited), earning a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, with honours. To be awarded the honours designation, I actively researched and published an undergraduate honours thesis, titled Multimodal Interlaminar Fracture of Soft/Hard Layered Materials.

Having had a lifelong passion for working in the civil aviation industry as an accident investigator, I have been working since then to pivot my engineering experience and provide
