Mission Background
The Field Imaging Nanosatellite for Crop residue Hyperspectral mapping (FINCH) mission is a 3U CubeSat mission designed to conduct crop residue mapping from Low-Earth Orbit. Since 2019, a diligent cohort comprised of undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Toronto has worked rotationally to prepare for launch in fall 2030.
My Involvement
I have been a member of the Payload Mechanical subdivision in the Space Systems division at the University of Toronto Aerospace Team.
Over the course of my involvement, I have lent my skills to identify critical points of overstress (failure), as part of our quasi-static analysis simulations. Across 4 iterations through fall 2024, we have worked to include newer components as needed, in conjunction with design updates made by the Mechanical and Optics division. This has been followed by a diligent
